Equality and Diversity

  • The Engineering Academy is committed to the principles of equality and diversity for all its learners, customers, staff, and contractors and this is set out in our overarching Equality and Diversity Policy Statement.

    Our commitment underpins all our activities and influences company strategy. The Engineering Academy is opposed to any form of discrimination and we will monitor the implementation of this policy and the impact that it is having.

    We will ensure that everyone is treated with respect at all times. No-one should ever feel Uncomfortable as a result of their race or ethnic background, religion or beliefs, gender or sexual orientation, disability, or age.

    Inappropriate behaviour or language by staff or contractors will not be tolerated and will be dealt with under E.ON's disciplinary procedures.

    Inappropriate behaviour or language by learners will not be tolerated and is governed under the Learner Code of Conduct.

    We will ensure that our recruitment, initial assessment, teaching and quality assurance practices reflect the needs of all learners and potential learners.

    We will ensure that our staff recruitment and contract letting procedures are fair and free from any form of discrimination or influences that are not relevant to the role or work to be undertaken.

    We will set targets to increase participation in learning of specific under represented groups We will monitor participation and success rates to ensure no groups are at a disadvantage. Where issues are identified positive steps will be taken to address these.

    Handling of personal information (including assessment results) will be dealt with in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

    Results of tests, initial assessment and feedback of other assessment results will be provided in a confidential setting.

    We will maintain procedures to ensure that staff, contractors and learners have redress against Harassment and Bullying.

    A Learner Complaints procedure will be maintained and any issues raised will be thoroughly investigated and actions agreed to rectify the problem.

    We will ensure that no material is displayed on E.ON's sites that could be classed as racist or of a sexual nature. We will further seek to ensure that no such material is on display in workplaces that are frequented by learners. Where such material is found, managers or supervisors will be asked to remove it by the the Engineering Academy member of staff.

    Engineering Academy marketing materials will be representative of the communities we serve and accessible by all.

    Progress with the implementation of this policy and specific E&D targets / actions plans will be monitored by the Equality and Diversity Steering Group.

    All staff will receive training in equality and diversity at induction and on going to maintain awareness and ensure staff are kept up to date with current practice.

    All funded learners will receive equality and diversity training as part of their induction.

    Equality and diversity will always feature during learner reviews in the workplace.
