By the end of the course, delegates will be aware of the main ways in which workplace fires start and the action that can be taken to prevent fires, in particular the importance of good housekeeping and keeping sources of ignition and fuels apart. They will acquire knowledge of the current fire legislation in relation to workplace safety. Delegates will be aware of the different types of fire extinguishers and their designated use and when it is deemed safe to use them, i.e. not putting themselves and others at risk. Delegates will have had practical experience in the safe operation and use of fire extinguishers. Delegates will learn the role and responsibilities of a fire warden to carry out their designated duties competently in order to both prevent and reduce consequences of fire.
