City & Guilds 2392-10: Certificate In Fundamental Inspection, Testing And Initial Verification
-
- Objectives
-
This qualification has been developed in order to meet the needs of the electrical contracting industry. It is intended to provide candidates with an introduction to the fundamentals of inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations.
- Content
-
This is very much a ‘hands-on’ course. All underpinning knowledge requirements will be supported by frequent practical activities.
Assessment will consist of:
A multiple choice online test covering the underpinning knowledge relating to the fundamental inspection, testing and initial verification of electrical installations, as required by BS 7671:2008
A practical test covering the range of inspections, tests, verification and recording of information and results for a new electrical installation, as required by BS 7671:2008
Candidates for this course are required to bring with them a copy of the 17th Edition IEE Wiring Regulations the IEE On-site Guide and IEE Guidance note 3 - Inspection & Testing. These can be obtained through the IEE Publications Departments (tel:01438 313311).
We strongly recommend pre-course reading is undertaken.
Important
This qualification has been produced to meet the needs of less experienced learners who have historically struggled to achieve the certificate in inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations (2391).
It can be described as a pre-cursor qualification and will better prepare learners who want to progress to the 2391-10 qualification.
Please note that City & Guilds 2391 remains a current qualification - the alterations in 2391-10 reflect incorporation of the new wiring regulations and adjustments of content. There is no requirement for learners to take 2391-10 if they have previously achieved 2391.
- Entry Requirements
-
There are no formal entry requirements for candidates undertaking this qualification. However, you must ensure that you have the potential and opportunity to successfully gain the qualification. It would be expected that candidates have a basic knowledge and understanding of electrical science and principles.
- Audience
-
This course is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update training. It is also suitable for those coming into the industry with limited experience of inspection and testing. Candidates who achieve this qualification could progress onto the Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391-10).
